Akari is the main character of the series. She has red eyes and red hair which is almost always down with a little yellow ribbon tied in a bow on top of her head. She's really sweet and she cares a lot about her friends. She's unselfish, carefree, and she has the most innocent, angelic face.

She first appears in episode one where she starts off waking up and getting ready for her first day of class. After getting ready she stops by her friend (since childhood) Hiroyuki's house. He's the same age as her and has brown eyes and brown hair. He is seemingly popular with the girls. She presses the intercom button and shouts his name, until he opens his window and see's here. Hiroyuki never seems to have had enough sleep. ^^; He always looks dopey and always mentions wanting to go back to sleep. On the way to school they meet up with their friends Masashi and Shiho. Shiho is Akari's closest female friend and loves to sing.

Both Akari and Hiroyuki are in there second year, Class B. When it's time for seating assignments, Akari hopes she'll get to sit by Hiroyuki. Does she get to? You'll see. ^_^ After school the four friends go to a karaoke place to watch Shiho sing. Later on at night, Shiho calls Akari and they have a brief phone conversation, then when they finish, Akari brings out her diary and writes about her day.
